FUSE is seeking both adult and student volunteers to work with children with disabilities in our adaptive swim program. The adaptive swim program is geared toward non-swimmers and beginning swimmers who need to continue to build swimming skills to become independent in the water. Each swimmer is assisted in the water by a one-on-one volunteer.
We are looking for volunteers who would like to work with children ages 5 to 15 in the water. Volunteers must be ages 15 or older. No previous experience is required. Volunteers must have basic swimming skills and are required to sign a waiver.
The program will begin with an orientation on Friday, September 18, from 6:00 to 7:00 pm at Circle of Care (312 E. Main St., Greenfield). First for swimmers is Friday, September 26 and the program runs weekly (minus October 31) through November 21.
We ask that if you volunteer, that you can commit to at least 5 of the 8 Fridays, plus the volunteer orientation. If you cannot make this commitment, we would love to have you sign up as a substitute on weeks where we have a need.
