In 1995, I gave birth 11 weeks premature to a beautiful 2 lb 4 oz baby boy. I met Denise Arland, a mother of quadruplets who were a year older than my Jacob. We talked, shared stories, trials, tribulations and successes. Out of that, FUSE was born in April 1996. Our first meeting was at the local Ponderosa with 7 families from Hancock County who each faced their own challenges in raising a child with a disability. From that, we have evolved into a non-profit serving over 1,000 families in East Central Indiana. We provide training, resources and the support families need to know they are not alone in raising a child with special needs. We have an Adaptive Swim Program, Inspiring Abilities Expo, Social Skills workshops, and family support meetings among other services for families. Because of FUSE and the support and information I got, Jacob was able to accomplish things that I would never have dreamed of for him. FUSE empowered me to believe that he could accomplish anything he wanted....and he has! Our journey is not over. FUSE is able to do all of this with the financial support of our community. They don't receive state or federal grant funds. I hope you will help to support me in raising funds to continue the great work of FUSE in Indiana.
